Bacchus describes both a grape varietal and the Greek god of Wine, festivals and the celebration. A virtual 'carnival' of flavours and aromas for the palate to enjoy in this wonderful white wine.
The Bacchus is a white wine grape that was created by viticulturalist Peter Morio at the Geilweilerhof Institute for Grape Breeding in the Palatinate in 1933, using a Silvaner x Riesling cross with Müller-Thurgau. Grown in the vineyards of Ashby Point here in the Shuswap, these cool-climate grapes have developed a uniquely wonderful flavour, and we offer them to you to show off their "celebratory" character.
With a name originating in Roman mythology as the deity for wine, Bacchus is exuberant , offering a harmonious tartness with hints of vanilla, pear, and spices. Enjoy its unique character on its own for social get-togethers, with pastas, and even with desserts.
Awards in 2017 for Bacchus, include a Silver medals at the 2017 Cascadia Wine Competition and 2017 NorthWest Wine Summit and Best of Category at the 2017 Northwest Wine Summit.
